An uncut, natural diamond crystal is prong-set in its rough, unpolished state, its irregular grey surface left entirely untouched by faceting. At its centre, a small ring of pavé diamonds is set directly into the rough stone, adding a point of polished sparkle against the matte, mineral texture surrounding it. Set in 18K gold, the pendant contrasts the diamond in its most natural form with the same stone fully cut and set. An unusual pick for someone drawn to raw, unrefined gemstone material.

Setting a rough diamond crystal means working around its natural, irregular shape rather than a uniform faceted outline, so each prong at Qala's Jaipur workshop is placed individually to hold the stone securely. The small pavé halo set into the rough surface is a deliberate contrast between the diamond untouched and the diamond refined. A pendant that keeps a diamond in its most elemental form.
